In the Oil and Gas Industries, one paramount major component in any drilling platform is the Production Wellhead or the Christmas tree. In order for the crude oil or gas to flow from the reservoir to the surface production facilities, a wellhead assembly is the component at the surface of an oil/gas well that provides the structural and pressure-containing interface for the drilling and production equipment. The primary purpose of a wellhead assembly is to provide the suspension point and pressure seals for the casing strings that run from the bottom of the hole sections to the surface pressure control equipment. The current and conservatively more than half a century old and aging Wellhead Hydraulic Control Module had been supplied, installed and used by both onshore and offshore for the control of oil and gas production wells of fixed assemblies. It generally comprised of pressure regulator, lubricator, reservoir, pressure gauges, pneumatically operated hydraulic pump, pilot-controlled hydraulic valve and associated control and instrumentation for the hydraulic supply headers which supply hydraulic pressure to a hydraulically operated down hole valve or Surface Controlled Subsurface Safety Valve (SCSSV) and Surface Safety Valve (SSV). The Module does not take care of all potential safety and environment issues and concerns, maintenance difficulties and corrosion other than production downtime.
For SIMCOM-Wellhead Hydraulic Control System which can be used during ‘black start-up’ of wellheads where instrument air or gas supply is not available. Current system is not able to do that. By incorporating a hand operated pump and a manual override three-ways valve for ‘black start-up’ this SIMCOM is of great convenience to operators.
Compact and quality functional product. Ease of maintenance compare to current system in terms of the needs of a lubricator. Stainless Steel components are extensively used throughout and ease of dismantling piping connections during maintenance.
Key innovative features and characteristics of SIMCOM relates to a System Design for Wellhead Hydraulic Control Operation. The SIMCOM is pneumatically operated with Manual Override facilities for “Black Start-up”; it’s hydraulic output powers and/or controls the opening and closing of wellhead’s Surface Controlled Subsurface Safety Valve (SCSSV) and Surface Safety Valve (SSV). More particularly, the equipment is specifically designed to provide a safer, faster, and more effective way to work during service maintenance and to benefit the Wellhead Hydraulic Control Operations. Drip-pan is available to prevent spill-over. Stainless steel design overall with ease of dismantling individual components during maintenance. External shutdown signal can easily be incorporated to trip the system. Minimal maintenance – only for pilot-controlled hydraulic valve and hydraulic pump. Frequency is recommended for every six months but only on inspection basis.
